Lucia Noto
Lucia, the Founder & CEO of Butterfly Books, is a prolific reader, dedicated student, and community member. She is currently a freshman studying Bioengineering at Rice University. Lucia’s passion is service to others and engaging with others in her community. She held a multitude of leadership positions at her high school, The Holton-Arms School, in organizations such as the Red Cross, Future Faces of Medicine, Community Engagement Clubs, Upper School Orchestra, and Math Club. Lucia also served as a student ambassador for Holton-Arms and was selected as a Tour Guide Officer where she worked closely with Admissions to provide tours and spoke on student panels for prospective families. With a passion for reading, math and science, Lucia aspires to become a Biomedical Engineer. Lucia’s pastimes include hosting “Talk to Lucia: Medical Careers Podcast” available on Spotify, playing her violin in various orchestras, and contributing time to nonprofits such as the "Do Re Mi Project" and "We Are The Future of Medicine." As part of her volunteer service with Do Re Mi, Lucia serves as a violin tutor for children that cannot otherwise afford instrument lessons. She is currently serving as a Senior Community Outreach Coordinator of the Do Re Mi project where she leads a team of volunteer musicians and engages with the community to organize and participate in sharing beautiful music in nursing homes. Lucia's commitment to Butterfly Books is driven by her belief in providing all children with access to literature and her aspiration to make a positive impact in her community and beyond. In all her endeavors, Lucia exemplifies a tireless dedication to her community and an unwavering commitment to spreading the transformative power of literature—one book at a time.
